British scholar, novelist, and author of some 40 books, most of them on Christian apologetics, the most widely known being The Screwtape Letters (1942). Lewis is also know for his science-fiction trilogy. He wrote several books on the history of English literature, taught at Oxford and Cambridge, and was a good friend of J.R.R. Tolkien.
