Both the English and American editions of the first couple Harry Potter books were published in insufficient quantities to meet the demands of either readers or collectors. Because first editions for these rapidly assumed significant retail prices, dealers are often asked whether they think the prices for Rowling's books will stay strong. Probably so - her books deserve a lasting place in the pantheon of children's fantasy and will likely always remain reasonably popular and collectable.
