American writer who started with prize-winning mysteries before turning to even greater commercial success with non-fiction works, including What You Should Know About Human Sexual Response and Body Language. He was the younger brother of novelist Howard Fast, and won the first Edgar Award for his first novel, Watchful at Night (1946).
