American playwright and novelist. One of the founders of the Provincetown Players (1915) and the Provincetown Playhouse, where the plays of Eugene O'Neill were first produced. Glaspell received the Pulitzer Prize in 1931 for her play Alison's House, based on the life of Emily Dickinson.
