Softcover. Event program. Slim octavo. [8] pp. Glossy stapled wrappers with general wear and some creasing at the spine, cover with a paperclip impression and first page with some oxidizing in the top margin from the paperclip, very good.

This copy especially notable for being Inscribed by three people being recognized, to African-American journalist and author—and Dinner Dance Committee Member, in her capacity as "Friend of the Museum"—Justine Rector: guest speaker Circuit Judge A. Leon Higginbotham ("with highest admiration, fond memories and esteem"), Philadelphia Mayor W. Wilson Goode ("Best Wishes"), and recipient of the Special Recognition Award, poet Sonia Sanchez ("Walk beautifully my sister. In love/strength"). The program has additionally been Signed by President and CEO of *The Philadelphia Tribune* Waverly L. Easly. Judge Higginbotham received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, and Goode was the first Black mayor of Philadelphia (though he is probably best known today for his connection to the 1985 MOVE Bombing); Sonia Sanchez is of course a major poet and figure in the Black Arts Movement. The pamphlet also prints "Life Every Voice and Sing" inside the front cover; it was performed that night by Claudia Kirkland. A nice piece of Black Philadelphia history.
