Hardcover. Large, thick quarto. Unpaginated. Full black morocco, both boards with a lovely gilt arabesque boarder, raised bands along the spine creating six compartments each repeating an intricate gilt decoration save for the second compartment from the top which has, "Holy Bible" in gilt, gilt roll turn-ins, all page edges gilt, cream colored endpapers, and an attached navy blue cloth bookmark. Owner name of "Mother Amos" on the front free endpaper dated August 22, 1909. Boards and spine are worn with a distinct abrasion in the middle of the front board and some chipping to the rear board, light toning throughout, still very good with the binding sound and hinges tight. Containing the Old Testament, Apocrypha, New Testament, and Index. The Bible does not contain a Family Record. However, newspaper clippings laid in and a piece of paper signed, Mrs. R. P. Stover, Blue Hill, ME, suggest that this Bible belonged to a family from Maine. Also laid in is a silk bookmark that prints a poem titled, "Daily Motto."
