Between the Covers

Unbound. Original sepia-toned gelatin silver press photograph. Approximately 7.25" x 9.5". Underwood and Underwood stamp on back. Small tear and chip in right hand margin, with some rubbing that doesn't effect the main part of the image much. The attached caption reads, in part: "Art...as taught by that great modern exponent of the chalk and chuckle, Johnny Gruelle creator of Raggedy Ann... shows the pupils of St. Patrick's school in Miami Beach how its done in his open air 'art' class." Gruelle is pictured standing before an easel with a newly created chalk drawing of Raggedy Ann.
