Hardcover. First editions. Parts I-III, complete. Quartos. xiii, 297; ix, 77; xii, 170 pp. Illustrated with black and white plates and color frontispieces, Volume III with a few additional color plates. Gray or reddish cloth with leather spine labels; each volume with Doheny's gilt leather bookplate on the front pastedown, modestly offset onto the front fly. Bindings a trifle soiled, two volumes with lightly toned spines, a couple of tiny nicks or tears in the cloth, and Volume II with the spine label a bit worn, a bright, near fine set. Each volume (1940, 1946, 1955) was published in an edition of only 100 copies, printed by The Ward Ritchie Press of Los Angeles. A handsome production honoring an extraordinary collection; a plate in Volume III shows Countess Doheny admiring her Gutenberg Bible.
