Hardcover. First American edition. Two volumes (complete). Small 12mos. Inserted publisher's ads dated January 1839. Original purple floral pattern muslin cloth over boards. Ex-Driscoll Piracy Collection with bookplates in each volume (the collection was sold to benefit a Kansas library), Quite dampstained on boards and with tidelines in the text, evidence of paper spine labels eroded away and lacking, sadly a fair copy at best. Housed in a chemise and blue cloth slipcase gilt. A novel based on the life of the pirate leader. Among the ads for the publisher is *The Narrative of A. Gordon Pym*, neglecting to name Edgar Allan Poe as the author Uncommon, especially in original boards.
