Philadelphia: A.W. Auner, [circa 1877].
Price: $450.00
Unbound. Small broadside or handbill. Approximately 4 ¼" x 8". Printed on the recto only. Edgewear including some small nicks and tears, still very good. The date estimation of circa 1877 comes from the lyrics referring to President Hayes, "I heard the plan concocted to assassinate Abe Lincoln,/The negroes loved him as the man of old loved Washington;/But Lincoln, Johnson, Grant have gone, and Hayes now fills the chair,/He went back on the men that put him there by foul means not fair." The song goes on to reference George Fox "that good man–king of fun," as well as, Edwin Adams, Billy Pastor, Dan Bryant, Nelse Seymour, Unsworth, and Jim Budworth. *OCLC* locates only a single physical copy (American Antiquarian Society), with an additional known holding in Rutgers' Song Sheet Collection.
