(Dallas, Texas): 1925.
Price: $500.00
Unbound. Sepia-toned gelatin silver photograph. Approximately 4.25" x 7.5". Creases on the corners and rubbing on the edges, very good. Full length image of a young boy, perhaps nine or ten, standing sideways and pictured in full cowboy rig, his hat-band is emblazoned with the word "Dallas" as he aims a gun off to his left. A small, contemporary ink note: "Tex. Mag" is inked onto his leg (perhaps the image appeared in a magazine). A contemporary, unsigned ink note on the verso gives some interesting but somber provenance: "Wink, be sure to save this as we want it back. Notice - holster is for a left handed man. This gun was taken from a 'Negro gun man' by Buck Parsons. Negro was later killed trying to escape prison farm. This picture made in Portland, O. in 1925." Interesting image.
