Original Photograph featuring "The Nixonettes," Young African-American Supporters of Richard Nixon
[Washington, D.C.? circa 1968].
Price: $450.00
Unbound. Gelatin silver photograph. Measuring 10" x 8". Small creases mostly at the corners, a small tear reinforced on the verso, a very good example. A striking image showing eleven young African-American women and men, as well as two older Black men, posed in front of a large American flag. Each of the seven women holds a pom-pom and a small donation bucket, and each wears a sash reading "Nixonette." The Nixonettes were comprised of young women who dressed in red, white, and blue (usually matching) outfits, and danced at Nixon campaign events, a little-known footnote to campaign history.
