Los Angeles: ["Malka Heifetz Tussman Book Committee"], 1958.
Price: $300.00
Hardcover. First edition. Tall octavo. Text in Yiddish; bound and paginated in the Yiddish style. Neat owner name facing the title page, else a near fine copy in light gray boards printed in black. Tipped-in is an intriguing, Yiddish-language Typed Note Signed. We admit our Yiddish is far from flawless, but to the best of our ability, it reads: "Jack Hirschman asked me to send my book, and I did, because you can't get the book in a book store. Who are you? Yours, [signed] Malka Heifetz Tussman [with her Santa Monica address]." Tussman's manuscript return address from the envelope is also laid in. Hirschman translated some of Tussman's poetry into English.
According to the Jewish Women's Archive, Tussman "served as a bridge between generations of Yiddish poets from Eastern Europe and American-born Jewish poets who have taken up the task of making Yiddish poetry known to a readership that knows little Yiddish." A nice association.
