Amos was the lone female of the art collective Spiral, which was founded by prominent African American artists Romare Bearden, Charles Alston, Norman Lewis, and Hale Woodruff in the early 1960s. She later taught textiles at the Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, co-hosted a crafts show broadcast on WGBH-TV in Boston from 1977-1979, and served as a professor at Rutgers University.
