Between the Covers

Hardcover. Two volumes. xxxii, 604; [8], 679pp. Both volumes bound in black flexible leatherette, *Common Prayer* with owner name stylized in gilt, titles in gilt on the spines, all page edges gilt, gilt inner-dentelles, navy blue endpapers, and each with an attached blue silk bookmark. The rear cover of *Common Prayer* has a pocket into which slides the front cover of *The Hymnal* joining the two; a unique format we've dubbed the "marsupialian binding." Rubbing to the boards and spines, a 1" tear at the top of the pocket, a small chip at the top of the front cover of *Common Prayer*, and the ends of the bookmarks are faded and frayed, very good. Both volumes are according to/adapted by The Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States of America.
