New York: American Tract Society, [circa 1862].

Price: $50.00

Hardcover. 16mo. 108pp. Illustrated from engravings. Brown cloth boards decorated in blind, the front board with an oval decoration in the center. Ex-library with a deaccessioned stamp on the front pastedown but no other library markings, owner signature on the front free endpaper with a note on the verso of the first front flyleaf, some pencil on a few pages, wear to the boards and spine with some loss to the cloth at the ends of the spine, and the spine slightly cocked, good or better. We cannot make out the owner's last name but the first and middle are Amos Louis and the signature is dated May 1862. The note is rather sweet, it reads, "My mother taught me my letters and gave me my first courses in reading from this primer which she greatly preferred to secular school books. I read the book practically from cover to cover."
