New York: Brady [Studio], [circa 1865].
Price: $975.00
Unbound. Oval albumen portrait. Measuring 3¾" x 5" widest points; mounted on a 8½" x 10½" card, with a narrow gold line surrounding the edges of the portrait, and the words "New York" and "Brady" stamped in tiny letters. Edges of the card mount are toned, small smudges on the mount, with the name "Reid" in pencil, very good or better but the image is fine and attractive. Born in Connecticut, Charles M. Reid enlisted at West Point in 1861 and graduated as an Infantryman in June of 1865, 32nd in his class of 68, two months after the Civil War ended. He was garrisoned at Augusta, Georgia in August, where he died of illness less than five months later at the age of 21.
