1934 Typed Letter Signed Giving Information on Automobile Travel during "a trip to the Indian Country"

Gallup, New Mexico: The Southwest Tourist News, 1934.

Price: $75.00

Unbound. Typed Letter Signed on *The Southwest Tourist News* stationery. One page. Folded for mailing else fine, with the typed envelope present (soiled, opened along the left side). Signed ("M. L. Woodard"). A nice 1934 to a Philadelphian about to make "another trip to the Indian Country." Woodard notes that printed in information is being sent under separate cover, but dedicates the second paragraph to information about the "Nava-Hopi Road," "the 18 miles east from Desert View," and U.S. 89 north from Route 66. He also notes that gas stations can be found in sufficient numbers along U.S. 89. In addition to being editor and publisher of *The Southwest Tourist News* of Gallup New Mexico, Woodard was a member of the United Indian Traders Association (UITA) and operated shops in Tucson, Scottsdale, Santa Fe and Gallup. A nice letter from the early days of automobile travel.
