Between the Covers

Hardcover. Early American edition. Volume II (of two) only. 12mo. 231, [1]pp. Publisher's papercovered boards with printed paper spine label. Neat ownership signature of Charlotte Perkins Gilman with her given name "Charlotte A. Perkins" on the front pastedown. Contemporary pencil note on the front fly: "M. S. Pachard. From M. H. P's books." Nicking at the spine ends, but a handsome and sound near very good copy. We have been unable to identify M.S. Pachard (or possibly "Packard") or M.H.P. at this time, but they were presumably relatives of Perkins. A relatively early signature of Perkins, likely from before her first marriage in 1884.
