Weston Hall, Towcester, Northamtonshire: 1970.
Price: $250.00
Unbound. Three ALS and one related TLS. Oblong octavo sheets (8" x 5") of Sitwell's Weston Hall stationery, totaling a little over three pages. All three in the hand-addressed mailing envelopes. The letters are folded for mailing but fine; the envelopes are a bit roughly opened, and one with coffee stains and "SITWELL" in marker on the cover panel. Sitwell writes to Mrs. R. C. Kline of Mt. Kisco, New York, about botany, mostly clematis, including one species that was named after his grandmother. The related TLS, mailed by Sitwell to Mrs. Kline with no additional note, is from an English garden store to Sitwell, regretfully announcing they are not able to mail clematis to the U.S., but providing the names of two U.S. suppliers. An interesting little clutch of botanical correspondence.
