Hardcover. 12 volume set. *Old Morality*, *The Bride of Lammermoor*, and *A Legend of Montrose*, were collected and arranged by Jedediah Cleishbotham. Octavo. All volumes feature an engraved frontispiece, added pictorial frontispiece, and an additional engraved frontispiece for one of the other books contained within each volume. Brown cloth boards decoratively stamped in blind on the front and back covers, and the spine elaborated decorated in gilt featuring the series' title, volume titles, volume number, publisher, and representations of a knight on horseback, a horn, and a knight posed before a backdrop of weaponry. All volumes with some bumping to the corners and spine ends, Vol. 3 and 12 each with a small nick at the crown, Vol. 4 with wear to the spine ends and the bottom of the spine neatly repaired; all volumes with a small label on the front free endpaper with “72” written on it, some foxing to the endpapers and fly leaves, and light foxing to the edges, Vol. 2 has heavy foxing to pages 368/369, Vol. 4 with some tearing to the front fly leaf, Vol. 7 with a small stain on the front fly leaf lightly affecting the top margin of the frontispiece and title page, and Vol. 8 has a small dampstain at the bottom of the front free endpaper affecting the first 50 or so pages but not affecting any text, overall a very good and sound set with the decorative gilt-stamped spines presenting beautifully.
