Fine in very good dust jacket with the usual peeling to the lamination (a problem that is endemic to this jacket) along with some toning and a series of small chips and tears at the spine ends. Inscribed by the author with a smeared signature, which he notes: "For Claude Anderson - Welcome to Siesta Key. Return soon - stay longer. Like Freida L., I say, come without calling. Fond good wishes from Vicki and Bud S. June 30, '57 [and below that] Vicki was sleepy and smeared this." A novelization by Schulberg written in conjunction with his screen story and screenplay for the great Elia Kazan film *On the Waterfront* featuring Marlon Brando, Karl Malden, Rod Steiger, Lee J. Cobb and Eva Marie Saint. The film won eight Academy Awards including Best Actor (Brando) and Supporting Actress (Saint). It was the debut film for Saint, as well as for Martin Balsam, Pat Hingle, and Fred Gwynne.
