Softcover. First edition thus. Edited by Richard Franko Goldman. Original music by Shield. Single bifolium with a single-sheet-insert making six pages, with a small errata slip laid in. Light edgewear, and light toning to the wrappers, very good or better. For voice and piano. Plate imprint, "The Green Mountain Farmer 4." The front cover reads in part, "'The Green Mountain Farmer' was published in 1798 by Linley and Moore in Boston. It may be a surprise to many to find Tom Paine in the capacity of writer of patriotic songs, yet 'The Green Mountain Farmer' is not the sole surviving example of his efforts in the direction. The song had its historical background in the interference with American shipping during the administration of John Adams." *OCLC* locates only seven holdings and it appears to be equally scarce in the trade.
