Price: $100.00
Unbound. Poster. Measuring approximately 20" by 15". Some very light foxing and edgewear including a few small closed tears primarily along the top, very good. A post-WW1 poster featuring the Polish crest, four unidentified individuals, and a portrait of Józef Pi?sudski, who was Chief of State at the time, prominently displayed in the center. Something of note is the flag on the right and the matching banners, all displaying red over white. From 1890 to 1918, this was the flag of The Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria, which was also known as Austrian Poland (which became part of the Second Polish Republic after WW1), the Polish flag as we know it today (displaying white over red) was officially adopted August 1, 1919. To add to the complexity, from 1918 to 1920 the flag of Czechoslovakia was also white over red (the blue triangle being added in 1920), and several regions in Austria-Hungary used a bicolor red and white flag as well. A striking poster full of history and produced only months before Poland adopted their national flag.
