Bottom corners bumped and binding with a few small stains, endleaves tanned, two marginal pencil marks on the coated frontispiece and the occasional foxed spot in the text, very good. Nicely Inscribed on the front fly. The author was born in Boston in April 1851; her grandfather was president of Yarmouth Bank. Mostly concerns a pleasant home and school life, but there are very brief sections dedicated to the Civil War and temperance movement. Julia Ward Howe and her husband were neighbors and a page is dedicated to running amok in the Howe house with their children. Ten copies in *OCLC*.
