Softcover. An archive of 16 typed letters signed by Vermont politicians between 1942 and 1970. All items fine most with original envelope.

A small collection of letters from politicians in Vermont to John D. Clawson and his wife Constance between 1942 and 1970. The Clawson’s were active in local politics and participated in fundraising and campaigning for Vermont candidates for governor and Congress. John worked for the Eagle Square Manufacturing Company in Shaftsbury, Vermont beginning as a manager and working his way up to vice president by the mid-1960s. As a “Vermont businessman” he was tapped to lead the Vermont war chest fundraiser for his town and help with petitions, among other events. The politicians involved included Governor William H. Wills, Governor Mortimer R. Proctor, Congressman Charles A. Plumley, Governor Ernest W. Gibson, Governor F. Ray Keyser, Jr., Senator George D. Aiken, Governor Philip H. Hoff, and Governor Deane C. Davis. The final two letters are to employees of the Eagle Square Manufacturing Company, one from 1967 congratulating the firm on its 150th anniversary and another extending an invitation to tour the Apollo 11 space module in 1970.

A nice collection of letters written to politically active Vermonters with ties to an important manufacturing company.
