Washington D.C. 1968.

Price: $250.00

Hardcover. A small archive of material related to Lyndon Johnson's bid for the Democratic nomination at the 1968 Washington D.C. Primary election. Included is a two page sample ballot and a double-sided letter advocating the Johnson campaign's slate of Committeemen and women. Fine in original mailing envelope. This campaign material from Democrats United urges the voter to vote the Jackson-Cipriani slate, dubbed as "the team that backs the team." Up for reelection was E. Franklin Jackson, an African-American reverend and former chapter of DC's NAACP for National Committeeman and Mrs. Harriet Cipriani for National Committeewoman. Although the envelope is stamped May 1968, Johnson had already made his decision to drop out of the race.
