Five issues of Driftwind Magazine with Cthulu-related Content

North Montpelier, Vermont: Walter John Coates, 1928-1932.

Price: $2,500.00

Softcover. Magazines. Octavos. String-tied printed wrappers with some contemporary pencil notations on the covers. Overall very good with typical wear to the yapped edges, bit of sunning and/or toning to the spines, and and some scattered soiling. A group of five issues of the long-running New England amateur press magazine *Driftwind*, each featuring a contribution from H.P. Lovecraft, that relates to his Cthulhu Mythos. Four of the issues contain the first print appearance of five sonnets from the Fungi from Yuggoth series: "The Familiars," "The Port," "The Canal," "The Gardens of Yin," and "The Howler." Plus, the longest contribution of the group, "Vermont: a First Impression," a four-page account of a Lovecraft's visit to Vermont, which contains several paragraphs that were later incorporated into the short story, "The Whisperer in the Darkness." A nice collection of original Cthulhu-related material from well-known amateur press publication that is becoming increasing difficult to obtain.
