Contains Stephen's daughter Virginia Woolf's first appearance in book form (p.474-476), a first person account of Woolf's opinion of her father. Affixed to the front fly with a straight pin is an engraved card of Mr. and Mrs. [Andrew] Carnegie, with a handwritten note in in "With all good wishes for the Christmastide" in an unknown hand.
