[circa 1932].
Price: $750.00
A 150-piece puzzle with each piece printed in color on a cardboard backing. Accompanied with the original brown paper bag wrapper printed in black (11 ¾” x 17”). Three puzzle pieces are lightly bumped with two small tears, else fine. The wrapper is gently folded and lightly toned along one vertical seam, near fine. Both are in excellent condition overall. An early puzzle designed by Theodore Geisel as part of Standard Oil’s “Moto Monsters” campaign, featuring five car-damaging monsters who can be defeated by Essolube. It depicts a family happily driving away in their convertible as the monsters look on in annoyance, and advertises Essolube in the top right corner. An attractive, well-preserved puzzle dating from Geisel’s early career as an illustrator for the Standard Oil Company.
