Hardcover. First edition. Octavo. Black cloth lettered in red. Edgewear on the boards, a good or better copy lacking the rare dust jacket. Norman Douglas' copy with a note in pencil by him on the front endpaper: "Belongs to N.D." An autobiographical novel of prison life by Jean Langlet, written under a pseudonym, after the author was convicted of embezzlement. Reportedly the novel was essentially completely re-written by Langlet's wife, the author Jean Rhys. Exceptionally scarce.
