Light edgewear to the cloth on the corners, a little soiling on the boards, faint ink shelf number on spine, else near fine lacking the rare dust jacket. At the time this book was published, Bryher, a novelist and the heiress to a large shipping fortune, was married to Macpherson, with whom she adopted Perdita, the daughter of H.D. The four of them lived in a Chateau in Switzerland which became a center of avante garde film. Bryher, who had previously married expatriate author and publisher Robert McAlmon in order to secure her inheritance, later left MacPherson for H.D. (Hilda Doolitte), one of the most celebrated lesbian relationships in literary lore.
