Hardcover. First edition. Oblong quarto. Slight bump at the bottom of the first white page, else fine in fine dust jacket. Inscribed by the photographer to his close friend, the artist R.B. Kitaj: "For Ron With Love, Lee." Kitaj contributes an essay for this book "Still in Praise of Still Photography" and additionally the books prints a full-page portrait of him. A significant association between two American artists. Friedlander published a volume devoted exclusively to portraits of Kitaj: *Kitaj* (San Francisco: Fraenkel Gallery 2002).
