Jelly Roll Morton Rehearsal Tape

[Alexandria, Virginia: no date - circa 1970s].

Price: $350.00

Unbound. A rehearsal tape for the band World of Jelly Roll Morton on an EMI tape in a cardboard box with a typed label giving the list of the recorded songs. The label is tanned with a tear and there are some pen notations on the reverse of the box, else near fine. Laid in is a TLS by Robert S. Green to a saxophone player asking him to listen to the rehearsal tape in hopes that he might join the band. Greene founded World of Jelly Roll Morton to recreate Morton's Red Hot Peppers band for audiences during the 1970s and 80s. The band released a live album from a performance recorded in Hatfield, England in May, 1982.
