Inscribed by Pearlie M. Jones: "Dr. Canon - thank you for the opportunity to share my legacy. Dr. Pearlie Jones 11/01/03." Dr. Jones, African-American author, poet and playwright, lecturer and events coordinator was born in Magnolia, Arkansas. On the title page Jones states: "... My book is a simple autobiography of an African American in a Southern rural town in Arkansas... It is a straight narrative, written from my memory, and an oral history of those who helped... ."
