Softcover. First edition thus. Preface by Dorothy Day. Edited and with an introduction by Chuck Smith. Slim octavo. 48pp. Lower wrap reprints a portrait of Maurin by Fritz Eichenberg. Ownership signature of minister and Civil Rights activist George Houser and his wife Jean on the title page (in Jean Houser's hand; see below), and with two passages marked in ink. Modest wear, a bit of very light staining on the cover, very good or better. Selections from Maurin's contributions to *The Catholic Worker*. George Houser, who is white, was a Union Theological Seminary graduate, cofounder of the Congress of Racial Equality and founder both of the American committee on Africa and the African fund. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a member of ACOA's national committee and corresponded regularly with Houser. Houser dedicated his life to Civil Rights both in America and in Africa. A nice association.
