Though the lyrics to this piece do not explicitly relate to WWI, the timing of its publication makes its connection clear. Especially interesting is its subtle connection in theme to a famous novel that would be written about The Great War, *All Quiet on the Western Front*; just as Paul Bäumer returns to his family's comfortable home while on leave and takes stark notice of the absurd contrast of the still existent quiet domesticity taking place while his fellow soldiers continue to suffer in the hell of the trenches, so does Burnet highlight this juxtaposition, "Sword-song and battle roar and the great grim fighting line!/And what of the woman in the door, and the blown grape on the vine." *OCLC* locates six holdings.
