Hardcover. First edition. A good only copy, hinges cracked with penciled underlining, abraded corners with tiny tears at spine ends. Bookplate of Barrett Harper Clark on front pastedown, and Inscribed by the author on the front fly to Clark. Barrett Clark was a writer, editor, and actor who helped create theater companies that encouraged experimental American dramatists. He guided playwrights such as Eugene O'Neill, Maxwell Anderson and Sidney Howard in the use of aesthetic choices characteristic of American folk drama. Clark's dramaturgical approach successfully bridged the gap between theater of the 19th century and the second half of the 20th century.
