Softcover. Second edition. Introduction by Dr. Albert Ellis. Quarto. 108pp. Bradbound in unprinted gray wrappers as issued. Ownership stamp and signature of noted American psychologist and anthropologist Henry Guze, (a founder of the American Academy of Psychotherapists, the Society for Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis, and co-founder, along with Dr. Albert Ellis, of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sex) on the front fly, near fine. Hand numbered as copy #2361 (there were apparently 1000 copies of the first edition, and 1500 copies of the second edition). Laid in is a letter to Dr. Guze from the publisher offering the second edition and stating the publishing history. Pseudonymously written frank account of the author's discovery of her own sexuality and the ways that she accommodated it. This title caused a sensation and it was later reviewed by the Supreme Court as part of their investigation into the publishing activities of Ralph Ginzburg (who acquired the copyright to this work in 1966) that resulted in his serving six months in prison. Reprinted many times, the earlier editions are very uncommon.
