Illustrated with an engraved title page, several in-text engravings (vignettes, headpieces, and tailpieces), and with 10 engraved plates. Quarter-bound in contemporary calf and speckled paper over boards, gilt spine with leather label, edges stained red. Small ownership label on the front pastedown. Wear to the leather spine and corner tips (with some loss at the spine ends), partial splitting to the joints, else a near fine copy. Most of the in-text engravings and plates are signed by Gessner (some plates are also dated 1775). A tight, clean copy with fine impressions of Gessner's classic pastoral designs.
