Between the Covers

Unbound. A collection of 12 color polaroids measuring 3.5" x 4.5" without captions. Fine. A small collection of photographs depicting a group of African-American friends in the early 1990s. The images focus on the fashions of the group and show them posed showing off their outfits in a parking lot, cross armed and making various gestures. Only one is taken indoors and shows three men, one seated and the other two standing crossed armed facing him, with a sign that reads, “East Coast home boys kickin’ ass” at their feet. This era of hip-hop fashion saw the rise of Timberland boots, oversized t-shirts, and paisley bandanas, all of which are featured here.
