Hardcover. Early reprint utilized by Wouk as a Presentation issue. Cloth binding stamped with naval symbol and personalized in gilt to Richard H. Baer. About fine, without dustwrapper, probably as issued (in this binding). The printed acknowledgment thanks and refers to the original members of the cast and crew as "The plank owners of the U.S.S. Caine... ." Beneath the printed acknowledgment, Wouk has Inscribed the book: "For Richard H. Baer, plank owner of the Caine, electrician of the original company - Sincerely, Herman Wouk." A dramatization by Wouk, adapted from his Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, a story of cowardice and manipulation during WWII. Splendidly adapted first for the stage with John Hodiak, Henry Fonda, and Lloyd Nolan, and then for film with Oscar-worthy performances by Humphrey Bogart, José Ferrer, and Fred MacMurray. The only Presentation issue of this title we've seen.
