[Archive]: Werk Sheet: Werkland Fun Forty for Week Ending

Muncie, Indiana: WERK, 1966-1967.

Price: $400.00

Unbound. A collection of 26 leaves (8½" x 11") of "Werk Sheets," which listed the top forty hits from WERK, a pop music station in Muncie, Indiana, from October 1966 through May of 1967. Condition is near fine with small staple and punchholes at the top left of each leaf, presumably done by the station. The sheets were printed on various bright colored leaves, and feature a cute tongue-in-cheek image of the radio hosts on the top left corner, along with the forty songs typed in order. It goes without saying that the popular music that made it to the radio from the fall of 1966 through early summer 1967 is among the best popular music ever recorded, from Motown to Country, to Rock and Roll. Jimmy Ruffin, the Four Tops, The Rolling Stones, Brenda Lee, Neil Diamond, and many others are represented here, from the one-hit-wonders to the first-ballot Rock and Roll Hall-of-Famers.

A colorful piece of local radio history from central Indiana.
