An archive of family photographs beginning in the 1920s through the late 1930s. The family traveled to various locations, sometimes camping, and took many interesting and unique photographs seen throughout the album. Some of the locations they traveled to include the Rushmore caves in South Dakota, Dagmar in Montana, and Weyburn Sask in Canada. The family lived on a small farm in Montana that backed up to the Canadian border. One photo of a young woman shows her holding onto the dividing marker labeled “United States.” There is a picture of a young woman captioned with her name, Catherine Gormley, under the photo presumably a relative or close friend. Their farm had several horses, sometimes accompanied by carriages, and large open fields for tilling and planting crops including a picture of a Red River Special threshing machine. Other pictures show the scenery around the home and on their travels. Pictures of fields, ski resorts, the farm, lakes, and trail paths are all included in the album.
The album also contains pictures of the young couples and their babies growing up. Some of these include photos of young couples holding each other, women smiling together, group photos of friends, and baby pictures next to young children’s portraits. There are also a couple of sweet pictures showing a child dressed as a fairy, the young boys of the family playing the drums and the piano, wedding pictures, military uniform pictures, and posed shots of the older men wearing fancy clothing.
An interesting collection of family photographs from the 1920s through to the 1930s showing a young family adventuring together largely in the West.
