Inscribed by Baldwin on front endpaper to crime novelist Mignon Eberhart and her husband: "Minnie & Allen with much love - Me." The friendship between Baldwin and Eberhart is well documented, with Eberhart, considered the founder of the modern romance suspense or mystery novel. Baldwin was one of the most popular romance novelists of her day.
