[Photo Album]: Amateur Nature Photography

circa 1920.

Price: $200.00

Softcover. Oblong small quarto measuring 10" x 7". Stapled paper wrappers with "photographs" stamped in white on the front wrapper. Contains 17 sepia-toned or black and white gelatin silver photographs measuring between 1.5" x 2" to 3.5" x 4.5" without captions. Near fine album with near fine photographs. A modest but interesting collection of amateur American nature photography featuring a variety of landscapes in the photographer's life. One photo shows a group of ducks in a pond, another shows a dirt road lined with power lines. There's a section of photographs that detail a lake with trees mirrored in the water and lily pads and algae. The only captioned photo is of a box full of puppies which reads, "a box of tricks." One striking photograph shows the edge of a field with the jagged edges of wooden fence posts jutting out. Throughout the album it is clear that the photographer is learning and honing their skills by taking pictures of houses, farmland, and lakes at a variety of angles and lightening. An interesting assemblage of attractive, amateur photography with a focus on nature.
