Unbound. A collection of early 1970s t-shirt transfers. Each approximately 12.5” x 18”. Color ink on wax-like transfer paper. Overall near fine with some tears at the edges of the sheets and scattered stains. The group of more than 100 transfers is comprised of nine unique designs that include several classic 1970s-era images such the Zig-Zag man and Robert Crumb’s Mr. Natural and the Keep on Trucking man. Also featured are various drug and psychedelic drawings (butterflies, pot plants, bong, trolls, hippies) and a rarely seen Janis Joplin design. The transfers were created by The Shirt Explosion, a New Carrollton, Maryland company that produced designed by various artists including Uncle Reefa, Jettmar, Gregor, and S.H., a.k.a. Stephen Hickman, a Hugo Award-winning fantasy artist. A charming archive of decorative images that helped shape the t-shirt fashion trends of the 1970s.
