Between the Covers

Softcover. Oblong string-tied wrappers lacking the boards. An album containing 71 sepia toned photographs, mostly 4.5” x 3”, of travels, mostly throughout California, the Pacific Northwest, and in to Canada around 1919. The album begins in Los Angeles and includes photographs of various beaches including Venice before heading North to San Francisco and Golden Gate Park. Highlights include a stay at Shasta Springs, a vacation spot off the Southern Pacific Railroad popular in the early twentieth century whose spring water became the basis for Shasta soda; the beautiful scenery of Lake Louise in Alberta, Canada; and the glacier of Mount Cheops in British Columbia. Pictured are various forms of transportation including horseback riding, trains, and the ferry from Portland Oregon to Vancouver, British Columbia. The trip ends with images of the ever popular Niagara Falls.
