Collecting tips:

Lagerkvist seems to be one of the few Scandinavian Nobel Prize-laureates whose work translates well into English. His two best-known works in English are Barabbas, (first U.S. edition published in 1951), which was adapted into the film of the same name featuring Anthony Quinn; and The Dwarf (first U.S., and first edition to appear in English published in 1945 by L.B. Fischer, eight years before the U.K. edition). Both are relatively inexpensive, but the later is inordinately hard to find in nice condition - and a great read as well - a narrative by an evil and cynical dwarf in the court of Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe.
