A Broadway hit with Charles Boyer and Claudette Colbert, and basis for the 1961 film directed by Walter Lang, and featuring Susan Hayward, James Mason, and Julie Newmar, who reprised her Tony Award-winning stage role. After this initial success Stevens went to Hollywood, where he had an uneven career and is now perhaps best remembered for his cult television program *The Outer Limits*.
